American Express data capture and reporting procedures have proven to be nearly 50% more
accurate and reliable, on average, than processes used by bank issued card providers. Our
exclusive, closed-network operating structure enables us to capture enhanced data at the
point-of-sale. This ensures the integrity of data from the point of sale to report delivery.
A study conducted by the McDonough Consulting Group (USA) showed that American Express data
accuracy is 98%, compared to 66% for bank issued cards*.

Standard Reports
As a result of our proprietary network, American Express has direct relationships not
only with our Cardmembers and customers, but also with each merchant that accepts
the Card. This enables us to maintain an extensive database of Cardmember, supplier
and point-of-sale data. This is used to provide a wealth of data to help you manage
your procurement program more efficiently.
